A Walk In The Park

A Two-year project involving internet walking guide company Shepherds Walks and Northumberland National Park has resulted in the publication of three printed packs of guided walk information.

Each of the packs – Bellingham and Redesdale, Rothbury and Coquetdale, and Wooler and the Cheviots – comes in a clear plastic pocket to aid easy reference while en route. Inside each pack are details of four walks in the National Park – each on a separate removable sheet – and an accompanying sheet carrying relevant tourist information. The walks range from the moderate to the difficult, the longest being 15 miles long and the shortest 5 miles.

The walks have been designed, researched and written by proprietor Jon Monks after consulting landowners, farmers and park rangers, the latter having walked all the routes before contributing their findings. Artist Tony Hopkins has provided wildlife drawings, sketch maps and phoyographs.

The cost of each pack is £7.99, £1.00 of which will be donated by the publisher to the park’s visitor payback scheme, to be used on environmental projects. Contact Shepherds Walks on 01670 774675 or visit www.shepherdswalks.co.uk
