Blog - Bamburgh to Seahouses Nordic Walk
Fri 12th August 2016
Wow yet another day of fantastic weather for our Nordic walk from Bamburgh to Seahouses and back again. We have been very lucky this year.
We all met up nice and early and headed straight to the beach for our warm up. Decisions were made of shoes or no shoes for this walk. Most went barefoot. We asked a passerby to take our group shot.
We walked past the tank traps which someone had painted as rubiks cubes and dice.
As always the group walked at their own pace and lots of chatter and laughter was heard.
The now customary Nordic Nuts heart in the sand was needed. Carol took on the challenge to lots of catcalling from Russell who was taking the mickey out of her writing and drawing.
The group headed towards the waters edge where we plodged quite merrily. There were a couple of rusted items in the sea, lots of discussion abut what they could be. We had "part of a boat where the oars used to be" and also a "part of a boiler".
We got to Seahouses and went to the fish and chip shop and headed to the seats overlooking the harbour. Steve decided to sit alone although he had lots of company from the many starlings and gulls who swooped to try and help him with his lunch.
The lovely Edith found us "apparently she had found it difficult" not something that is often said about the Nordic Nuts people can usually hear us first.
Carol decided to empty her rucksack of as much as she could, gone went the pear, thankfully no more comments of "you have a lovely pear" were to be said and also her water to make her rucksack as light as possible.
Russell, ever the gentleman offered to carry her rucksack attached to his and when we got back to the sands Steve, not to be outdone in the gentleman stakes carried her shoes! Obviously I am doing something wrong!!
A nice walk back towards Bamburgh was interupted by Carol saying she was thirsty before remembering she had emptied her water out at Seahouses. Laura offered her her bottle of juice.
Carol opened it and on hearing the fizz said "oh is it fizzy" then took a small drink to exclaim "urgh" that is horrible". Poor Laura was only being helpful. It made everyone laugh.
We got back to Bamburgh, quick stretch and then the decision of pub or tea shop. This time the pub won and we all descended on The Castle Inn.
Another great walk. Thank you to everyone for coming along and making it a great day.
Thanks Martin for being my trusty volunteer and many thanks again to Russell and Steve for taking
loads of photos.
Our next Nordic walk is on 28th August 2016 at Wall. It is a short one, approx 4 miles.
I hope to see you all very soon.
