Walk 103 - Dere Street, from Jedburgh

Abbey car park, Jedburgh (NT 650203). If you are travelling north up the A68, just as you enter Jedburgh turn left (brown signpost – Town Centre and Jedburgh Abbey). Immediately turn left into the car park next to the river (Jed Water). This car park overlooks the Abbey and there are toilets available.

This lovely walk takes you along the Jed Water as it winds itself through the valley bottom before you climb up out of Jedburgh, along the Borders Abbey Way, which is a circular route covering many of the main Border towns.

You then rise up to and follow St Cuthbert’s Way along Dere Street, an old Roman Army Road between York and Edinburgh, before dropping down through some lovely woodland back to Jedburgh.

The walk is good underfoot, but strong shoes are recommended.
