walk notes

This is a superb example of some of the pleasant walks we have in Northumberland. It gives you beautiful views of Rothbury and the surrounding hills.

The walk begins in Rothbury and follows the old carriageway of Cragside Estate, the famous home of Sir William Armstrong.

The walk climbs to a height of 249 metres and looks down on Rothbury, with the Northumbrian Cheviots and Simonside in the distance.

You will then be guided through Cragside Estate, once the home of Lord Armstrong and onto The Thrum, the site of an old waterwheel, before following the river Coquet back into Rothbury.

This is one of the walks we have in Northumberland that really stands out. Some superb views of Rothbury and the surrounding countryside.
