walk notes

There are some spectacular examples of Neolithic stone carvings in the sandstone escarpments at the fringes of the Cheviot Hills. Commonly called 'ring and cup marks' this rock art is mysterious and intriguing and often occurs in locations giving panoramic views of the Cheviot Hills.

We will take in some of these rock panels as we walk from Doddington to Weetwood Moor. Transport will then be provided to take us to Chatton Hill. After looking at some remarkable and unique examples here we will further transported back to our cars.

This day walk is something of a unique experience the memories of which will stay with you for a long time!

Note: The ascent on this walk is gained over relatively long distances. Overall the going is quite easy with only a couple of short steep bits though there is some uneven grassy ground to negotiate.
