  • Maximum number of places per day: 18
  • Price Per Person: £19.00

walk notes

Starting with an easy ascent to Winshields Crag, at 345m the highest point on the Wall for views to both north into former barbarian territory and south into the land of the Pax Romana (Roman peace) and on down to Caw Gap.

An easy walk south and east on the Roman side of the former North-West Frontier of Rome to visit the impressive excavations at Vindolanda which provide a real insight into Roman Britain.

Lots of local people never visit this important resource and research site, now is your chance.  We will return to the cars via the Stanegate Roman road, which predated the building of the Wall and even see the in-situ stump of a Roman milestone along the way.
