walk notes

This is a beautiful walk set in the higher reaches of the Breamish Valley and provides stunning views of the Southern Cheviots, Hedgehope and the Breamish Valley.

From Hartside the route takes us to Alnhammoor then a gentle ascent to Scauld Knowe and Salters Road – an old route used by reivers, smugglers and traders in bygone days. After passing through the farms at Low and High Bleakhope the path climbs to the plateau which encompasses High Cantle and Rig Cairn. If time permits the walk can take in the delighful Linhope Spout (waterfall) before returning to Hartside.
