walk notes

After meeting at Kirkharle you will be transferred with the rest of the group to Buttermere in the Lake District ready for a great days walking.

The transfer will be in the Shepherds Walks people carrier and it gives a great opportunity to ask all the questions you have about the days walking in the Lakes and really get a good understanding of the days walking ahead of you.

Innominate Tarn is a small tarn in the northern Lake District National Park nested above Buttermere. The tarn is the location where Alfred Wainwright's ashes were scattered and is situated at 1,700 above sea level, near the summit of Haystacks and will be the highlight of this days walking in the heart of the Lake District.

This great circular walk gradually climbs up from the valley floor in one of the most picturesque valleys in the Lakes and as it has no through road it treats you not only to stunning scenery, but also you get a great sense of isolation on the walk up to Innominate Tarn.

After visiting the tarn you will be guided up to the summit of Haystacks which was one of Wainwright’s favourite’s peaks. A truly great viewpoint of Buttermere and Crummock Water down below.

After a great days walking there will then be a transfer back to Northumberland.
Transport to and from the Lake District from Northumberland is included in the price. If you would like to meet us in The Lakes, rather than meeting us in Northumberland please knock £25.00 off the price. The non transport version of this ‘away day’ can only be booked over the telephone – 01669 621 044
