Shepherds Walks Tour of Northumberland - Tyne and Wear - The Lowlands

There are nine distinct sub-regions within Northumberland.  They all differ noticeably from each other and the aim of this series of walks is to demonstrate the variety of landscapes in the county.  Each month’s walk will visit a different area to see and experience the variety that Northumberland has to offer and every walk is designed to capture the special characteristics of the area.

This first months walk looks at Tyne and Wear - The Lowlands.

This low level guided walk initially goes via North Shields Fish Quay before crossing the River Tyne via the ferry to South Shields.

Then you will be guided along the river and coast past the South Pier, Herd Sands, Trow Point, Frenchman’s Bay to Marsden Bay and Grotto.

The possibility of a “swift half” in the unique alternatively cave bar below the cliffs before returning the same way, or alternatively catching a bus back to South Shields from opposite the Grotto for the return ferry crossing.

This can be decided on the day accordinng to the group and/ or the weather.

A great days walking to start our series of walks looking at the varied lansdcapes of Northumberland. Godd under foot
