  • Distance: 9 miles
  • Difficulty: Moderate

  • Maximum number of places per day: 14

walk notes

After meeting at Lordensaws there will be a short transfer to Weldon Bridge (included in the price).

After initially crossing ‘Weldon Bridge’ the guided walk stays on the southern side of the Coquet, glimpsing the historic Brinkburn Priory on the other side of the river. This beautiful 12th century church of the Augustinian priory of Brinkburn survives completely roofed and restored.

As the walk continues through attractive rolling farmland you will reach Rothbury.
From Rothbury there is a short climb as you climb up from the valley floor back up to Lordenshaws Iron Age Hillfort, from where you are treated to some great views.

A superb walk, which Shepherds Walks took Clare Balding on 2 years ago when recording a series of ramblings, for Radio 4.
