walk notes

The walk – all on metalled paths and pavements - provides a fascinating view of the busy river and fishing port and includes trips on the ferry. Weather permitting the walk can incorporate walking to the lighthouses on North Pier and South Pier.

The Watch House Museum, Admiral Collingwood Monument, Black Midden Rocks and the Fish Quay are all passed before taking the ferry to South Shields.

The market, Catherine Cookson museum and Arbeia Roman Fort are passed before taking the return ferry and retracing steps to Tynemouth Castle.
