walk notes

On this walk you will be guided to four Iron Age Hill Forts, past Bronze Age Burial sites and prehistoric cultivation terraces.Getting up two of the hillforts involves a good climb, but it is worth it.

The hillforts are typically exposed hills and take the form of circular ramparts made of earth and stone. But what led people to construct them 2300 years ago?

In the recent past it has been possible to view artefacts from these hills in the Northumberland National Park Centre. However, at present we cannot confirm  that the exhibition will remain open given changes to the ownership of the site. If itís open we will pop in.Well worth it!
