walk notes

A lovely walk from Causey Arch Picnic Area, past Tanfield Railway (a 4ft 8¹⁄in standard gauge heritage railway it runs on part of a former colliery wooden wagonway, later a steam railway, it operates preserved industrial diesel and steam tank locomotives).  We then walk through the woods past Causey Arch (a bridge which is the oldest surviving single-arch railway bridge in the world).
