walk notes

This lovely Nordic walk passes through some of the varied scenery around Wallington Estate and the picturesque village of Cambo.

The walk starts by passing through some of the estate farms, now owned by the National Trust. The wonderful large tree belts around the fields give it a true estate feel which has been kept in the traditional way by the National Trust.

It is one of the best medium length walks we have in Northumberland.

During the walk a trained Nordic Walking instructor will be able to help you with your technique throughout the walk.

After the guided walk why not spend the afternoon at Wallington (National Trust property, admission charges will apply. Dating from 1688, Wallington was home to many generations of the Blackett and Trevelyan families, who all left their mark. The house at Wallington is an impressive, yet friendly, house with a magnificent interior and fine collections. The remarkable Pre-Raphaelite central hall of Wallington was decorated to look like an Italian courtyard and features a series of paintings of Northumbrian history by William Bell Scott. The formality of the house at Wallington is offset by the tranquil beauty of the surrounding landscape – with lawns, lakes, parkland and woodland. The beautiful walled garden, with its varied plant collection and charming conservatory, is an enchanting must-see.
