walk notes

This is Jon's all time favourite walk in Northumberland. Apart from the Cheviot itself it must be one of the most known summits in Northumberland but luckily its relative isolation seems to keep a lot of people away.

Following on from the success of our Copper Snout walk in 2015 we thought we would take you to another impressive hill in the Cheviots.

Starting from Wedder Leap car park, near Barrowburn, we cross the River Coquet and head up the side of Barrow Law. We then head towards Murder Cleugh and Little Ward Law before the final ascent to the border fence, where we cross the border into Scotland to Windy Gyle summit. We will have lunch at Russell's Cairn, admiring the stunning views around us, weather permitting. After lunch we will follow the Pennine Way along the border ridge to Cross Dyke, where we will turn South and follow The Street back down to the valley bottom and our starting point.
