walk notes

If you buy a GPS from Shepherds Walks you can come on this course for free.

Garmin Basecamp is a free piece of software that enables you to plan your walks on your PC and transfer them to your GPS unit.

This free software enables you to view and organise your maps, waypoints, routes and tracks and send them to your Garmin device. As BaseCamp Ďpullsí your maps from your Garmin GPS device there is no need to buy any third party software (i.e. Memory Map, Quo, Anquet etc) to plan your walks.

From now on Garmin owners no longer need expensive Ordnance Survey PC mappng software for route planning.

This half day workshop will go over the basics of the BaseCamp software. We can install it on your laptop (if you have not already done so) and show you how the software works.

The course covers -

- Downloading the BaseCamp

- Linking your GPS to BaseCamp

- Drawing your maps from you GPS and viewing them on BaseCamp

- Creating routes on basecamp and transferring them to your GPS

- Downloading routes from third party web sites and installing them on your GPS

- Purchasing further Ordnance Survey Maps through BaseCamp

and lots more

Plenty of time to ask questions and we will cover other specific areas upon request.

By the end of the half day you should be fully proficient in this great piece of free software and you will be able to plan your walks on your PC and transfer all the route data over to your GPS.

You will also go home with printed notes, showing screenshots. You can refer to this in the future.
