DAYS TO EVENT:131

Kielder Challenge Walk

Kielder Challenge Walk
Sat 2nd September 2017

The Kielder Challenge Walk has become one of the most popular challenge walks in Northumberland over the past few years.

The route is easy to navigate and is great under foot so is suitable for runners as well as walkers and what better location. The route encircled Kielder Reservoir. After checking in on the day you are on your way along the 25 mile route. Initially you go along the remote North Shore passing through checkpoints on your way.

Water and snacks are available on route and a support vehicle is on hand all day, to pick those up who drop out. Emergency first aid is on site all day, so you can relax and enjoy a great days walking.

People perceive it is a flat route, but the Kielder Challenge Walk goes up (and down) 1,500 feet over the 25.3 miles.

It is a great day and is a very popular event, please do book early.

This challenge walk is dog friendly, please do bring your dog along on the walk.

Another brilliantly organised walk by "Team Shepherd".

I'm sure that you're all as tired as us participants (if somewhat less foot sore!!!) but you should reflect on a day's work, after many weeks of preparation, perfectly executed!

Thank again - you were great :-).

Thank you once again for a brilliant day. Thanks to all the team - especially Lois and her friend for the teas and coffees - very refreshing. Loved the mile counting markers and the glammed up finish line.

Jon and the TeamJust a quick email to thank you all for a great walk and a fabulous day. we used the walk as a prelude to the marathon in 4 weeks and it has proved invaluable. The atmosphere at the start was extremely friendly and set us up for an exhilarating run/walk. Your team were extremely friendly and yet professional and you have that mix perfect. Congratulations on a well organised and thoroughly enjoyable event. We will most definitely be back next year although with walking boots only I feel!!Many thanks again.

Another great Challenge Walk organised by Shepherds Walks. Thank you to all the volunteers and staff of Shepherds Walks. Special thanks to Lois and Olivia for the refreshing and well made tea at Matthew's Linn and the end. It was much appreciated.

A big thank you to all at Shepherds Walks for arranging such an enjoyable and well organised event. From arrival at the car park (with the discount vouchers), through registration, the route and signage, to the finishing goody bag, everything was smoothly run (and we even had some sunshine!). I do a fair amount of walking but usually not more than 20 miles at a time so 25 miles of the undulating track around the water was indeed a challenge, but a fun one too.
