Rothbury Walking Festival

Rothbury Walking Festival

Fri 1st July 2011

Thanks to everybody who came to last week’s walking festival in Rothbury.

We had a great 8 days and with some varied weather everybody went away with a real smile on their faces.

The week started with some very popular walks looking at the Drover Roads of the Cheviots, a walk along the old Rothbury Branch railway line and then a popular linear walk along Hadrian’s Wall. This was the first time we have had a Rothbury Walking Festival walk outside the immediate stunning countryside that surrounds Rothbury and Coquetdale in Northumberland,  and it went down very well.

After a week of walking along the border Ridge and climbing stunning summits such as Windy Gyle we ended up at the end of the week with the first ever Cragside Challenge Walk. One hundred participants walked a truly stunning route covering both the Cragside Carriageway Drive and the Simonside Hills. What a day!

Thanks to you all and if you already have a 2012 diary put the 23rd – 30th June 2012 in it and make sure you come to the 2012 Rothbury Walking Festival.
