Wed 17th February 2016
Walk from the top of the county to the sea at this years’ Berwick Walking Festival
Berwick upon Tweed is gearing up the third walking festival that will be taking place in April this year.
A guided walk from the summit of Cheviot – the highest point in Northumberland to the North Sea will be the highlight of this year’s Berwick Walking Festival. The walk will split over four days taking in the College Valley, Flodden, Etal, Norham and the Tweed Valley.
Jon Monks from Shepherd’s Walks who organise the event said “This will be a truly unique opportunity - a walk taking in all that North Northumberland has to offer from mountain top to the North Sea via beautiful valleys, ancient rock art. The Berwick upon Tweed Walking Festival has exceeded all expectations to date and it is great to speak to people who are coming from all over the country who are booking onto the walks".
To complement this great series of walks there will also be a number of other day walks at Holy Island, Belford and Bamburgh - there is something for everybody.
You can see the full programme for the Berwick Walking Festival online here.
The Berwick Walking Festival is supported by Berwick Town Council and aims to bring visitors from across the country to stay in Berwick-upon-Tweed and walk in the surrounding stunning countryside. This helps to establish Berwick as the perfect base from which to explore North Northumberland and the Scottish Border on foot, by bike or on the bus.
