This wonderful walk encircles the lake on good paths, although a little rocky at times. The area is full of both inspiration and wonderful points of interest along the route. From the story of the sheep being rescued from Anglers Crag to the rare Arctic Charr which lives in the cold waters of Ennerdale Water.

It is a walk to take your time and enjoy the striking scenery around you. The walk is good under foot but a little rocky initially. Please wear strong shoes.

shepherd's notes

A lovely walk in one of the quietest parts of the Lake District.

SR Wrote - 'Took us 2 hours to drive from Ambleside (via Keswick) but well worth the effort. So secluded and quiet and the first half of the route takes you so close to the waterís edge. It was hard to believe it was a hot Saturday in August – hardly anyone around. The views of both lake and hills beyond are stunning and definitely the right route round the lake'.
