walk summary

This lovely walk passes through three very contrasting types of scenery. Firstly the forest section as you follow the Cross Border Cycle Trail on good forest tracks.

Then the walk has a lovely riverside section as you follow the beautiful Kershope Burn meandering its way down the valley bottom.

Finally you follow the quite dramatic Waverley Route, which was the North British Railway's line between Edinburgh and Carlisle, passing the ruined Mangerton Tower. This has been a ruin for at least 200 years.

The walk is good underfoot, but strong shoes are recommended.

shepherd's notes

This walk guide contains route data which can be used in conjunction with your own GPS.

This quite exceptional and varied walk is one of my favourites in The Borders and makes for a great days walking.
