A Cheviot Classic
Wed 25th May 2016
We gathered at Wedders Leap deep in Upper Coquetdale. It was a warm and sunny start to the walk and the surrounding hills looked lovely. As we went up Barrow Law the views back up the valley were quite wonderful. As we walked we picked up on points of historical interest and contemplated the murder of poor Isabella Sudden.
We took lunch at the summit of Wyndy Gyle (619m). Shortly after we were hit by a hail storm but it soon passed and we went in search of feral goats. They must have been sheltering somewhere else because they didn’t come out to be looked at. The descent from the summit gave us wonderful views and we anticipated the joy of tea and cake on returning to Barrowburn. But the Tea Shop was closed!!
As we said our good byes it was evident that we had all enjoyed the day.
