walk notes

A triangular walk starting below the intriguingly named Grey Yade of Coppath to cross the Salter’s Road (track) at White Gates for the moorland crossing north towards Alnhammoor via Chesters - or the more direct route west of the Cobden Burn depending on the conditions.

The south westerly leg of the route takes us to Little Dod to join the Salter’s Road proper for the steep descent to cross the Shank Burn before “a little bit of up” towards Ewartly Shank farmstead and back over the moor to White Gate and the final kilometre or so back to the cars.

The fact that the road terminates at Ewartly Shank testifies to the relative remoteness of the location - at busy times it is necessary to pull-over to allow the post van to pass.  If you enjoyed the Hogdon Law walk in March this is the opportunity to see at first hand some of the more distant views you had from the summit close-up.
