walk notes

North and South Pike are north-east and east of Ewartly Shank respectively.

Both are referred to as Shepherd’s Cairns on the 1:25,000 Ordnance Survey map but there is newer and more poignant one in the area too as well as Nellie Heron’s memorial stone less than a kilometre further east across the moor.

The former are located east of the Salter’s Road whereas Hogdon Law lies to the west side of the ancient track and is one of the best value-for-effort climbs in the Cheviots.

We’ll walk the moorland cairn field in the morning and the hill in the afternoon in this quiet and secluded area of the southern Cheviots.  Come and join us.
